Tithing for Current Mission and Ministries

Your weekly, monthly, or other regular tithes provide the support for our ongoing missions and ministry. The largest items of expense are of course our staff, our facililty operating and repair costs, and our support for RCLS, our school. There are many other regular ministry expenses that are supported by your regular giving, but these are the largest ones. Your timely giving means that there are no ministry interruptions throughout the year. We encourage you to set up electronic giving.

Literally, the word tithe means "one-tenth"; at Holy Cross we teach the idea of proportional giving, that is, giving according to your means and with joy in your heart. The tithe is a challenge from God to test him: "Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it." Malachi 3: 9-10

Offerings

Offerings are gifts over and above your tithe, for special projects or missions that are dear to your heart. This might include:

• India Missionary Suresh
• Youth, Children's, Men's, Women's, or other ministries.
• Local Missions such as CarePortal
• Youth Garden
• Music/Worship Equipment

Capital (Building) Needs

We operate ministries out of a building. Buildings and facilities wear out over time. Most of our particular structure and it's internal mechanical and electrical systems date to the 1960s and early 1970s, resulting in signficant recent need to replace and update some rather costly things.

Thanks to the generosity of our members, we have managed to accomplish the following in the last 10 years or so without increased indebtedness:

• Shingled roofs on sanctuary and parish hall ($50,000+)
• All flat roof portions ($40,000+)
• All flooring ($30,000+)
• Sanctuary lighting (LED) ($25,000)
• Main Signage ($25,000)
• Main sancturary AC units
• Boilers, plus added high efficiency small boiler for lower demand times
• Offices for additional staff
• Youth space rebuild
• Parking lot reconstruction
