Hospitality:
Hospitality is a special gift God gives to certain members of the body of Christ to open their
homes to those in need with a cheerfulness and ease that makes guests feel "at home." They
entertain others in ways that make them feel comfortable and provide fellowship, lodging and food.

Opportunities for Service:
Interfaith Hospitality Network Evening and Overnight Hosts
This community ministry is based in area churches with the express purpose of
providing housing for families with minor children who need a temporary place.
Holy Cross hosts IHN guests 4 weeks each year. Each day of the week, volunteer
hosts are needed during the evening hours and also during the overnight hours.
Training is provided by IHN. Sign up sheets are made available in the Sunday
bulletins, Messenger newsletter, and the entryway prior to our hosting weeks.
Interfaith Hospitality Network Van Drivers
This community ministry is based in area churches with the express purpose of
providing housing for families with minor children who need a temporary place.
Holy Cross hosts IHN guests 4 weeks each year. Each morning and evening, IHN
guests might need transportation to and from the IHN day center on 7th St. NW.
An IHN van is used for this purpose. Training is provided by IHN and sign up
sheets are made available in the Sunday bulletins, Messenger newsletter, and the
entryway prior to our hosting weeks.
Adult Bible Fellowship Small Group Host/Hostess
To show hospitality, homes are needed for the meeting sight of group meetings.
One of the tasks in an active CareCiple group is for one member to serve as the
host/hostess on a regular basis. The membership of the group takes turns
providing a refreshment for the meeting.
Greeting for Sunday Morning Worship Services
All of us like different things, but one thing we all like is to be greeted with
a warm smile and friendly handshake. You could be one who provides this service
and welcomes those to Holy Cross on Sunday mornings during the months of
September - May. Think especially of what a nice touch this makes for our
visitors. A greeting schedule is mailed to all the participants.
Hosting Sunday Morning or Special Events at Welcome Center
In the entryway, our Welcome Center is outfitted to be a center for refreshments
of coffee/tea, juice, and treats. If you like to make these items available
and/or serve as the host/hostess at the Welcome Center, our ministry of Welcome
at Holy Cross would be enhanced.
Youth Fellowship
From time to time, Youth (Grades 7-12) look for an alternate sight for their
activity. This is especially true in the summer months, June- August. You might
desire to use your home or location as a sight for an activity or meeting of
these groups.
Telephoning
The telephone is one of the greatest means of outreach ever invented. When Holy
Cross conducts a survey or outreach to all of its members, the telephone could
be one of the means used. Would you be willing to call church members in the
convenience of your home?
Dorothy Day House Meal Preparation and Service
The Dorothy Day House in Rochester is a mission to the homeless that find
themselves in our community. Holy Cross serves the evening meal at the Dorothy
Day house every 4th Friday of the month.
