Helps:

Helps is a special gift God gives to certain members of the body of Christ to be especially sensitive to the needs of other Christians. These Christians help other Christians to do their ministries more efficiently. These are often behind- the-scene workers that help release the gifted activities of those whose works are more "up front" and noticeable.

Opportunities for Service:

Computer Screen Programmers

 Each week, the worship services are programmed on the computer in the sanctuary for presentation on the screen. The program that is used is "Song Show Plus." Those that have some familiarity with "PowerPoint" would find that working with this program is quite similar. A schedule is developed for a number of months in advance.

Church Office Help

 There are times when our Program Staff needs extra help or a substitute to do office work. You could help by filing, typing, data entry, and answering the phone. This is especially needed during times of staff vacations.

Interfaith Hospitality Network Food Preparers

 This community ministry is based in area churches with the express purpose of providing housing for families with minor children who need a temporary place. Holy Cross hosts IHN guests 4 weeks each year. During these 4 weeks, different volunteers provide the evening meal for these guests. Sign up sheets are distributed through the Sunday bulletin, Messenger newsletter, and/or posted in the entryway of the church.

Sound Technicians

 Each worship service at Holy Cross needs volunteers to operate the sound board for the proper sound for the worshipers and the leaders. Training is provided for this technical service. A schedule is developed for a number of months in advance.

Youth NightLife Homework Helpers

 The Holy Cross Youth NightLife weekly gathering on Wednesday evenings, 6:00-9:00 includes a time of homework help. There is a need for homework mentors who would be available from 6:00-7:00 pm on Wednesday nights.

Church Newsletter

Our church newsletter is edited on a monthly basis. MS Publisher is used in the final formatting of the newsletter. Someone to help with this editing is needed. In addition, a group is needed for assembling the monthly church newsletter and preparing it for bulk mailing. This is usually close to the end of each month.

Outdoor Worship Setup

 Each Sunday in the summer, our 9:00am worship service, June - August, is outdoors if the weather permits. We need volunteers to help with setting up for that service. This requires about 30 minutes per Sunday.

Vacation Bible School

 Vacation Bible School volunteers are needed to provide help with snacks, recreation, child care, only to name a few.
